Just to give you a little back story, I’ve been using social media to bring in a second income for my family since 2016. You read that right, I’ve been doing this for 9 years. The way I started doing this is actually not one I would recommend… I started by working for an MLM. Now, the reason I don’t recommend this is not what you’d probably think, it’s simply because you don’t own anything. You’re not a business owner, and you have 0 decision making power… even at the top.

In order to have all of the extra fun things in your homeschool, you need extra money that you can dedicate to your homeschool. That money can come in one of three ways: 1. A husband that makes good money 2. You working a part time job away from your home and consequently taking time away from your homeschool 3. Combining the best of both worlds and learning to make money while you homeschool. That’s what I’m here to show you today. These are 7 ways to make money from home that don’t involve MLM, MMR, Writing letters to casinos, Kingdom Sellers, or anything else that involves you buying a starter pack for the “privelege” of selling someone else’s products and lining someone else’s pockets.
Before I go over these 6, let me say again that I’m not against the MLM business model because “no one makes money”. We were making really good money. We were getting to go on all the cool trips and dine with literal millionaires (making millions per year, not over the course of a lifetime), but at the end of the day we didn’t own anything. Somebody else chose the products we sold and the price point we sold them at. Our “business” could be taken away in a moment’s notice. When our company closed its' doors in Australia and I saw a close friend of mine go from financial freedom to having 0 income overnight, that was the wakeup call for me. That’s when I decided to create my own brand and my own company. In the beginning I was doing both simultaneously, but once my brand got big enough I didn’t have time to do both and ultimately decided to walk away from the MLM world. Had I know about other options, I would’ve just created my own company from the get go which is why I’m sharing this back story with you today. If you’ve been looking at MLMs, just know it takes a lot more work than they’re advertising to “make it work”. With the amount of work you’ll be putting in there, you could build your own business and be making just as much money with something you actually own.
Ok, so here are the six ways you can making money on social media. These are in no specific order. Personally I’d recommend doing at least #1, #2, #3, and #4.
Honorable Mention: Facebook and Instagram Reels
You have to have a decent following for this one because you’re paid per view and have to hit certain criteria before you can even get paid on your reels, but it does bring in some cash. This isn’t one you usually set out to do; it usually happens as a byproduct of one the options below as you’re building your online brand which is why I put it as an honorable mention.
1. Amazon Associate
This is one I recommend everyone signing up for. It’s free to join, and you’re literally just sharing amazon products that you use and love with your friends and family online. When they purchase from your link, you get a commission. Now, this commission is usually pennies on the dollar, but it adds up… especially when you’re doing this in addition to one of the other options. You can sign up to be an amazon associate here.
This is where I recommend you starting. Every homeschool mom can do this, plus it ends up making your own homeschooling joinery a lot more fun for you and your kids. You’re basically creating digital products to use with your kids and then sell for other people to use with theirs. You can also create products specifically for moms to use. I create both. Creating 1, $10 product per month can literally pay your mortgage if you want it to.
3. Affiliate Marketing
Affiliate marketing is super simple. You’re literally sharing a product from a company or a store that you like with your friends and family on social media. Every time someone orders from your link, you get a small commission. This is also a great way to get some free products to test/try. Here is a complete training on how to start affiliate marketing.
4. Sponsored Posts
After you establish yourself as an affiliate marketer, it’s easy to transition into paid sponsorships. I now get paid upwards of $300 just to post a few pictures on my socials from brands wanting to reach my audience with their products. No one starts here unless you already have a large following, but it is a very lucrative avenue once you build your personal brand using the Branding Bootcamp.
5. UGC
Again, you usually don’t start here. This one does not require any number of followers, but it does require a working knowledge of videography and copy writing. User Generator Content is when you create a piece of content for a brand to use on their platforms. These are very lucrative deals, and the easiest way to get into this type of work is by getting good at #3 and #4 and then pivoting from there.
6. Tutoring
This one isn’t for everybody, but if you truly love teaching, it’s an easy few hundred dollars per week, and if you establish a solid brand on social media like I teach you in the Branding Bootcamp, it’s easy to get as many clients as you have time to teach. You can tutor virtually or in person, it’s up to you.
