Did you think that being home all day would mean you’d always have time to clean your house? Only to realize it’s actually messier than when you worked a 9-5? Same girl same!

If you’ve watched our videos before, welcome back! We appreciate you! If you’re new here welcome! I’m Tonya Johnson and I’m the Holiday Homeschooler where we believe every season is a holiday season. We love celebrating life and showing you how you can have a fun and exciting homeschool while keeping a biblical worldview.

Part of the biblical worldview is taking pride in keeping a clean home. Notice I didn’t say spotless or museum-like, just clean. No one is saying that the Bible commands us to keep our homes clean 24/7, but there is wisdom in keeping a tidy home and finding joy in doing so. Easier said than done when you’re also juggling educating your kids, I know, so here are 3 very simple ways I’ve found to actually enjoy doing housework.

1. Enjoy a tv show

We just built a house that happens to have a tv on the wall right in front of the kitchen island. Thanks to the location combined with my husband’s need to have a 75” flatscreen, it’s so easy to enjoy my favorite tv show while I’m doing one of my least favorite chores… dishes. Before we moved here, I’d set my laptop within view and watch a show that way.

2. Tune into an audio book

I love a good podcast, and I enjoy listening to music, but there’s something about having a fiction book that’s dedicated to cleaning time. This is especially enjoyable after a LONG day of homeschooling. I communicate to my daughter and my husband that I’m going to tune them out for 60-90 minutes while I clean the house and start dinner and then I escape into my book. Solo parent or single parent? Check out the corresponding video for a way that you too can enjoy kid free, quiet time!

3. Reward yourself

This one is needed for those extra hard days. My favorite reward right now is an hour long bubble bath with a cappuccino and a book. As soon as I finish cleaning I know that some relax time is waiting for me which gives me a little extra pep in my step. The house we just built has a huge soak tub in the master which makes this possible. Something I do in the warmer months as a reward is lay out by the pool and read for an hour or so.

Short, sweet, and to the point

These are very simple ways to enjoy housework, but they’re worth a shot. Have a way that works for you? Let us know down in the comments. See you next week!
