Welcome! I'm Tonya and this is my daughter Glori

We've been homeschooling for about 5 years now, and what a lot of people don't know about me is that I was 100% anti-homeschooling up until we started.

I was "homeschooled" (not really, but that's the label we wore) from 8th grade on. I literally worked all day, partied until well after midnight, then would come home and copy answers from the teacher book to the work book and send them off to be graded. I had several "homeschool" friends doing the same exact thing, and while we all loved the freedom in the moment, looking back we'd all agree that we had very poor education. I also had a few homeschool friends that were stuck in front of videos for 6-8 hours a day who equally look back on their "education" as a joke.

In Bible college I met several more former homeschoolers, everyone of which expressed hating being homeschooled, feeling isolated, having no friends, etc. It just solidified my disgust with the entire homeschooling world. Why would anyone do that do their kids? Side note: This is not to shame or make fun of anyone, but it's important that I paint a picture of why I was so anti-homeschooling. You'll also see that God has a twisted sense of humor.

I did end up getting an education by the way. God knew my story long before I did, so he equipped me with a very good short term memory (at least when I was younger, don't ask me about now haha). At 16, having only completed up through 7th grade, I headed to my local library to grab a GED study book and a week later I tested in the top 10% of the nation in GED score and moved over 1,000 miles away to attend Bible college. I got my Bachelor of Science degree in Secondary Education, started my career, got married, and had my daughter. Lots of messiness in between those items, but that's it in a nutshell. You can read my full story of how I became a paid, stay at home, homeschool mom here.

Back to this story, the day came that this little cutie was ready to be enrolled in preschool and mommy was finally going to have 8 hours a day of peace and quiet... except her birthday was just passed the cut off date. Imagine my husband's surprise when the words "I guess I can homeschool her" came out of my mouth. Let's be fair, I was equally as shocked. I immediately followed it up with "It's only preschool, if I screw it up she'll just start preschool next year anyway. Best case scenario we do well and she starts kindergarten in the fall in a 'normal' school."

By this time, I had met a few friends who were homeschooling their kids and doing a fantastic job. The kids were actually learning, they were involved in extra curriculars, they had tons of friends, and they loved every minute of it. God had been working on my heart about homeschooling, but I wasn't quite ready to listen, and I definitely wasn't ready to commit to the amount of work involved. What happened to my 8 hours a day of free time I was going to have? Told y'all God had a twisted send of humor... Spoiler alert, I still haven't seen any of that free time 😀

Clearly I didn't put her in kindergarten the following year, and although we did partially fail in preschool homeschooling, we failed forward. I learned that homeschooling was an amazing thing if done correctly, and I also learned that it can pay pretty well with a little guidance.

In addition to teaching moms everything I know about homeschooling, time managementscheduling, etc. I'm a social media manager that specializes in working with other homeschool moms (who are running small businesses) and ministry leaders who would like to stay up to speed with an ever advancing platform. I believe it's important to use social media in a way that honors God and drives people toward Him while we're simultaneously using it for business/ministry advertising.

If you're not yet a business owner, but would like to create your own printables business to generate some income for your homeschool, check out my BossMom Creator Course.

Inside the course I teach homeschool moms how to tap into their creativity. You'll be guided step by step through 1. market research (how do decide what product you should create) 2. basic graphic design using Canva (creating your products), and 3. social media marketing (now you have a product, let's learn how to actually sell it). From A-Z, this will teach you everything you need to know.

If you’re just here for some awesome homeschool content, welcome!! We like to have fun, get messy, and create life long learners around here 💜 Here are a couple free resources for my homeschool community.

If you like to connect with other homeschool moms, check out our homeschool community.

If you're interested in connecting with homeschool moms who are running businesses, we have a group for that too.
