One of the questions i get asked most this time of year is what I suggest for summer “school” if you don’t want to do summer school.

Luckily we live in 2022, and there are a plethora of curriculum companies with summer workbooks available right on amazon.

Here are our tops picks, in no specific order, along with a couple things that stand out about each one. Once you find your pick, scroll to the bottom of this page where you can order one for under $20 and have it shipped to your house in a whopping 2 days, again, aren’t we blessed to be living in 2022.

Happy hunting!

1. Brain Quest

Through combining, adventure, outdoor activities, and games, the brain quest series has a long standing reputation of being the “fun”curriculum. Summer brain quest covers all of your major subjects to help kids get ready for pre-K through 6th grade. It includes a trifold map and achievement stickers where students can track their progress all summer long.

                                           2. ArgoPrep

Although slightly on the higher end of the budget, Kids summer academy is the one for you if your main focus is helping your child get AHEAD vs simply not lose what they learned last year. ArgoPrep leads the nation in online test prep, and this workbook comes with 7 day weekly learning as well as instructional videos for each section on their website.

       3. Lumos

It only takes 15 min per day for your child to beat the summer slump with this workbook, and with online brain teasers as well as weekly contests (where yes, your child can win REAL prizes) your kids will be BEGGING to do “school” all summer long.

                                           4. Highlights

While most of us simply remember “highlights” as the colorful magazine that was popped into our mailbox each month, they’ve evolved into a company with dozens of fun, new product developments. The Summer Big Fun Workbook combines the colorful pages we grew up with with puzzles, jokes, progress stickers, and activities our kids are sure to love. Bonus, there’s a certificate of completion included in the back.

5. Summer Bridge

      Activities

This is another series that only takes 15 minutes a day to complete. The biggest advantage Summer Bridge has is it includes flash cards, so if you have a visual learner, this would be a good choice for you.

                                                6. Sylvan

Sylvan is best knows for it’s first class tutoring service. Although most of the summer workbooks we see have an element of fun to them and cover a wide variety of subjects, the sylvan Summer Smart series focuses on the skills of math and reading (although they do throw in a small fun section as well). This is a great workbook if your child is struggling to keep up with his classmates. Also included inside the work book are cut out flash cards, tips for staying sharp over summer break, and a certificate of achievement.

7. Evan-Moor

Evan-Moor is a leading publisher of homeschool curriculum, so the outstanding nature of their summer workbook comes at know surprise. Along side all the “Normal” subjects you’d expect, Evan-moor has included a critical thinking section to get your child thinking outside of the box and really diving deep into their analytical side.

                                          8. Scholastic

Anyone else just think of those really awesome book fairs we had as kids when you think of “scholastic”? Ok, maybe it’s just me. For real though, the scholastic summer express workbook gives you that same feeling as walking into the book fair. The biggest pro is the emphasis on reading practice, without the kids knowing they’re practicing, Jokes, riddles, etc.

Ok y’all that’s all i have for you on this one. I’d love to hear which workbook you picked for your family and why! Order Here
